Vol.1, No. 3, July 2003 |
Welcome to the third edition
of Analy '65 News!
Hi, Everybody! It’s hard to
believe it has been three months since the last newsletter and
even harder to believe that we’re already halfway through
2003. Time seems to fly by faster and faster. Guess that’s
how the 38 years since graduation have piled up behind us without
us really even realizing it!
Have you visited the web site lately?
A lot of new features have been added……..a faculty
page, an old photos section (remember Miss Closter at Park Side?),
a quick list of classmates who have submitted pictures so you
can go right to them, a chat room, etc. Charlie has been working
very hard!
As of July 2, 2003, 88 classmates
are participating in the web site. That’s an increase of
12 since the end of March. Fabulous! Of course, the goal is to
have all classmates participating. Be sure to mention the web
site. to any classmates you encounter who aren't aware of it and
convince the ones who are aware of it but not participating to
contact Charlie with their e-mail addresses.
Happy reading, Gwen

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
A huge dose of gratitude
goes to our classmates who have made financial contributions so
the web site can continue to run and be made better and better.
Millie Ito is sponsoring the server (no server, no web site!) for
a year, Lyn Headrick is sponsoring the chat room (more on that below)
for a year and Dan Baker made a cash contribution for Charlie to
use on the web site any way needed. Your support is greatly appreciated
Millie, Lyn, and Dan! top

| Profile
of a Classmate - Ginna Bonini |
 |
The profile of at least one classmate,
with his or her permission, will be featured in each newsletter.
Following is the profile that Gina Bonini Nimmo submitted for the
newsletter. She has had an interesting life, as you'll see.
Gina is into drag racing………and
she’s darn good at it! She has a whole slew of trophies to
prove it. On top of that, she volunteers her time to help educate
kids on safety issues. Way to go, Gina!

My profile
I married Bob Nimmo in October 1965. We lived in
Santa Rosa until moving to Bend, Oregon in 1966.
Bob, a Building Contractor for many years, is now semi retired.
Hoping to build one more rental unit before retiring completely.
We have one son, Robert who was born, October 1968 and a daughter,
Julie, born August 1971. Our son Robert lives with his wife of ten
years just two miles from us. Daughter, Julie is single and lives
in Portland Oregon and just graduated from college, holding down
a full time job while doing so. We have no grandchildren yet.
I have worked for the Bend-LaPine School District for 23 years in
the Nutrition Service Department. Last five years as Operations
Manager at High Desert Middle School, a production kitchen that
serves several satellite schools. We produce approximately 1200
breakfast and over 2000 lunches daily. This job keeps me very busy,
which I do enjoy and also gives me the freedom I need in the summer
when school is out. This helped immensely when the kids were young
and continues to help now that it is my turn to have some fun.
Speaking of fun. I am starting my tenth year of drag racing. I started
out by watching Bob race but soon wanted to try it myself. We both
have cars to race but now Bob watches most of the time and I race.
It really works out best since he loves to chat, and me, the quiet
one, just concentrates on driving. We have a great time and have
traveled to numerous tracks in the Northwest meeting many wonderful
people.
Time has certainly gone by fast as I can remember back in High School
when Bob taught me to get second gear rubber with his 63 Ford. Well,
things have not changed much, only now I'm driving a Chevy and making
a lot more smoke and doing it without the worry of getting a ticket.
What fun that is!
Over the years I have been racing I have had my share of wins and
losses that's for sure but I am most proud of finishing the year
end points series at our local track (www.madrasdragstrip.com)
in the top three of my class eight of the nine years and being Pro
Class Track Champion twice. My Sponsor when racing is Snapple who
I am grateful for and who has been there for me the past eight years.
Due to my racing I was asked four years ago to join Team Safety,
a volunteer statewide transportation program designed to educate
Oregon youth on safety issues (www.odot.state.or.us/transafety/teamsafety.htm)
In April of this year I took on the position of Team Safety Event
Coordinator for the state. This along with racing keeps my year
full of events to attend.
I do want to say that in May I attended a racing event at Infineon
Raceway in Sonoma and two classmates came out to watch me. I was
not a winner that day as far as a trophy goes but a winner for the
ever lasting friendship that was rebuilt that day. Thanks, Wayne
Thill and wife Rhonda and Dennis Mario for the great day that will
be in my memory forever. Most of all, thank you Charlie Williams
for the Analy web site. that made it all possible!

Chat
Room
Have you tried out the chat room yet? It’s
a great way for classmates and their family and friends to get together
and plan an event or an outing or just chat, etc. If you haven’t
tried it, give it a shot. It’s fun! All you have to do is
set a date and time with a friend or group of people and log into
the chat room.
When you click on ‘Go
To The Chat Room’ on the home page of the Analy web site,
an ‘Enter Network Password’ window will pop up. The
user name for the window is appletown and the password is 95472
Click ‘OK’. You will be taken to the chat room page
of the web site. Press the green, navy blue and white button that
will appear. The chat room will begin to load. This may take a minute
or so but there is a progress bar that shows how far along the process
is. Once the chat room is loaded, a window will appear where you
will create and enter your personal ID and password. To create your
ID and password, press the 'New Account’ button.
Once in the chat room, you will be taken to the
default room of ‘Lobby – 1’. If you are the first
one of your group to arrive, you will need to create a room for
your chat (the name of the room should be decided on when the date
and time of the chat is set so everyone will know which room to
meet in just in case there is more than one). To create a room,
click on ‘Room’ in the toolbar at the top of the screen
and follow the instructions. If the chat is to be private just for
your group, a password can be put on the room when it is created
(be sure the whole group knows the password when the chat is arranged).
If your group’s room has already been created when you arrive
in the chat room, just select the room and click ‘Join Room’
at the bottom of the room name window. Once in the room, type what
you want to say in the ‘Message:’ field at the bottom
of the chat window and press the ‘Send’ button. The
message field holds only a limited amount of text but you can send
your messages in multiple parts if they’re longer than the
field will hold all at once.
If your chat is a planning session and a transcript
of the conversation is wanted so everything can be remembered, choose
‘Room’ from the toolbar at the top of the screen and
select ‘Start Session Protocol’. When exiting the room
at the end of the chat, you will be prompted to save the script
and copy it to whatever application you wish.
When you are ready to exit the chat room, choose
‘File’ from the toolbar at the top of the screen and
select ‘Logout’.
Chat rooms that are created are not permanent. When
the last person logs out of the room and the chat room application
is exited, the room and it contents will automatically be deleted.
Or, the room can be manually deleted by selecting the room in the
room name window and choosing ‘Room’ from the toolbar
and then selecting ‘Remove’.
Give
it a try now, and have fun chatting! top

| Old
Photographs
You can’t send Charlie too many photos. He
loves to get them! Send him photos of you and/or your family and/or
anything that relates to you. If you have already sent photos, send
updates from time to time. That way, the web site. can be kept fresh.
Also, any old pictures for the ‘Old Photographs’ pages
would be much appreciated.
Photos can be e-mailed to Charlie or sent by mail
to 1275 4th Street, #346, Santa Rosa CA 95404. Any photos that are
mailed to Charlie will be returned. top

Memorial Pages
Memorial pages are being created for our deceased classmates. Please
send any information you may have about the circumstances of their
deaths, photos from throughout their lives, memories about them,
etc. It would be wonderful if pages similar to the one for Linda
Pappas could be created for all the deceased classmates. top

Web Site Volunteers
Volunteers who would like to contribute some time
and effort and ideas to helping grow and improve the Class of ’65
web site are continually being sought. If you would like to help,
just email Charlie and let him know. Your efforts and ideas would
be most welcome.
In addition, we are looking for those people who
were involved with planning the last physical, 10-year reunion to
participate in the web site. It could be a valuable orgainzing tool
for the 2005 reunion. top
